Concept? Drift San José is basic accommodation for independent travelers who prefer adventure and culture over the high priced amenities and services of all inclusive luxury resorts. To keep rates low we do not have a concierge or 24 hour front desk. We offer complimentary make your own coffee, and pay as you go self serve snacks and drinks between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. Our bar is open for our guests every day between 2:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Other amenities include a pool, fire pit, and roof deck.
Check In / Check Out? We provide a dedicated host on site between 2:00 pm and 10:00 pm to check you in. Although we can’t always guarantee it, we may have a staff member on site before 2:00 pm and available to store your bag until your room is ready. Please note we are not a full service property with a 24 hour front desk. Check out is at 12:00 pm and is self service.
Availability? Due to our limited number of rooms, and depending on your selected dates our BOOKING ENGINE may have a minimum stay at the time of your inquiry, especially during high demand dates and weekends. However please check back as it may relax minimum stay depending on availability and demand closer to the time of your desired check in date. Bookings must be done 48 hours in advance so we can guarantee room availability.
Specific Room Request? We will do our best to get you into the room or floor of your choice depending on availability at the time of your arrival. We cannot guarantee a specific room in advance.
Third party bookings such as AirBNB, Booking.com or Expedia? Any modifications to your reservation through third party sites must be done by signing into your account with them. Before making any cancelations or changes please review the cancellation policy at the time of your booking. If you are rebooking direct through our site please review rates, minimum stay, cancellation policy, and availability at the time of booking – all subject to change, restrictions may apply on promotions. Room Configurations? We have eight rooms, small, medium and large, all rooms regardless of size have one queen bed and a two person maximum. We do not provide cots or have rooms with two beds. Each room has its own bathroom with shower, lockbox and writing desk. Large and Medium rooms have hammocks. Large rooms have an open concept shower. Group Bookings? We no longer accommodate groups.
Location? Drift San José is in downtown San José del Cabo, in the municipality of Los Cabos, in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico. We are in Colonia Centro, or the Historic District on Miguel Hidalgo between Obregon and Comonfort, 1 block North of the cathedral and main plaza. Find us behind a white wall with a black gate. We are 20 minutes south of Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) and 30 minutes East of Cabo San Lucas. Our location makes easy day trips to the East Cape, Todos Santos, Cabo Pulmo, Santiago and La Paz. The beach is a 20 minute walk. Cafes and restaurants are located steps away. MAP.
Transportation? From the airport you have the option to rent a car, take a shuttle (try Cabo Chido, Supershuttle or Grayline Los Cabos) or a taxi from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) to downtown San Jose del Cabo (20 minutes). We recommend you print a MAP for your driver. If you are driving the easiest access and free parking is on Centenario close to where it meets Hidalgo. We recommend renting a car or 4×4 if you want easy access to all the great sites of Los Cabos and Baja California Sur. There is a National Car rental two blocks from Drift San Jose. There is a taxi stand in front of the cathedral 1.5 blocks away making it easy to get back to the airport or quick trips around town. We do not provide rental car rates or arrange airport pick ups.
San Jose del Cabo, or Cabo San Lucas? Drift San Jose is located in the city of San José Del Cabo, in the municipality of Los Cabos, in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico. Cabo San Lucas is a different city, 30 minutes to the West, within the same municipality of Los Cabos. “Cabo” is the sometimes confusing shortened version of Los Cabos, usually used by foreigners in reference to the city of Cabo San Lucas. The “Corridor” refers to the highway that runs between the two cities and is the location of many exclusive luxury resorts. Fly into the Los Cabos International Airport code SJD – located 20 minutes North of downtown San Jose del Cabo. San Jose del Cabo is the more traditional city, home of the municipal palace, plaza and Mission, complete with historic colonial architecture and the art district full of galleries and excellent dining options. It has a more local feel, surrounded by ranches and orchards, the protected Estuary and Bird Sanctuary, Puerto Los Cabos Marina, and farm to table restaurants. Cabo San Lucas is home to the Arch, Medano Beach and is generally considered the more “touristy” destination with its reputation for Spring Break party scene.
When should I Travel to Los Cabos? Los Cabos is a year round destination, with and average 350 days a year of sunshine and relative low humidity due to its desert location. The winter months are the busiest season with daytime temperatures averaging 28 C / 82 F with cool evenings, the most activity, bustling restaurants, farmers market, whale watching and festivals. During the summer months daytime average temperatures reach 32 C / 90 F with warm evenings, the pace is slower, beaches and restaurants are less busy.
Day trips from San Jose del Cabo? Five potential day trips, easily accessible using Drift San Jose as your home base, include; Santiago and Cañon de Zorra Waterfall, Todos Santos and Pescadero, La Paz and Balandra Bay, a Fishing Trip from the village of La Playita, or East Cape / Cabo Pulmo. If you are looking for a preplanned tour or guide try Chido Cabo.
Where should I eat in Los Cabos? There are too many good spots to list. Your Check-In Host will be happy to make a few customized suggestions when you arrive. We are continuing to add new ideas for places to eat and things to do on our website if you want to do some pre planning. Our bar is open and staffed from 2:00 to 10:00 and is a great resource to find out about the latest new spots to eat, or hear about a local event nearby.
Payment Policy. Room must be paid in full upon arrival with Visa, MasterCard American Express, MXN Pesos or US Dollars. To qualify for promotions or discounts reservation must be booked online and in advance, may be pre-paid, non-refundable and subject to restrictions when stated.
Cancelation Policy. Free cancellation seven days before 2pm on the day of your check-in, or your total reservation will be charged in full. Special promotions or discounted rates may be pre-paid and 100% non-refundable when stated. Cancellation policy on third party booking engines such as Expedia or Booking.com may different from this policy – and will be stated on your confirmation from that booking engine. Reservations are non-transferrable or eligible for future credits.
Terms and Conditions. Adults only. No pets. Allowing non-registered guests access to property is strictly prohibited. Maximum two adults per room. All rooms are non-smoking. Check in time is between the hours of 2PM and 10PM – we do not provide a 24 hour reception or concierge services. We reserve the right to upgrade guest to a room category of equal or larger size at no cost or to smaller size with compensation. No cooking, food storage or outside alcohol. For the enjoyment of other guests please use headphones with personal entertainment. Drunken or abusive behavior, gambling, prostitution, weapons or drugs will result in immediate expulsion with no refund. Using photographs and video’s taken on premises for commercial purposes must be pre approved. The guest will be held responsible for any loss or damage to the hotel property caused by themselves or their guests. Your email may be used for future mailings, you may unsubscribe at any time. Guest agrees not to hold Drift San Jose responsible for any liability, loss, injury, damage, cost and expense of any nature arising out of, and/or in connection with the acceptance of the reservation.
